En 1874, il r\u00e9alisa la construction du c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Viaduc de S\u00e9govie situ\u00e9 \u00e0 Madrid et qui a depuis \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9truit et reconstruit. Il dirigea \u00e9galement durant plusieurs ann\u00e9es la revue de g\u00e9nie civil Revista de Obras P\u00fablicas, revue toujours \u00e9dit\u00e9e actuellement, dans laquelle il \u00e9crivit de tr\u00e8s nombreux articles techniques.<\/p><p>Il fut le pr\u00e9sident de la commission d\u2019\u00e9tudes ferroviaires des Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es Centrales en charge de l\u2019\u00e9laboration des \u00e9tudes permettant de d\u00e9finir les trois trac\u00e9s des transpyr\u00e9n\u00e9ens en Espagne dont l\u2019un passait par Canfranc. Il portait l\u2019espoir d\u2019obtenir des transpyr\u00e9n\u00e9ens un trafic de marchandises analogue aux autres lignes ferroviaires. Il estimait le co\u00fbt de Huesca \u00e0 Canfranc \u00e0 23MPta, soit 166kPta\/km. Il expliquait les choix fait par le gouvernement espagnol de privil\u00e9gier le passage par Canfranc pour des raisons commerciales, industrielles et militaires telles que l\u2019exportation des vins vers Bordeaux ou la fr\u00e9quentation des stations thermales d\u2019Aragon.
