En tant que directeur au Minist\u00e8re des Travaux Publics, il fut l\u2019artisan de la construction de nombreuses routes, lignes de chemin de fer et ouvrages d\u2019art \u00e0 la fin du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Il dressa les plans du Pont au Double \u00e0 Paris, pont m\u00e9tallique r\u00e9alis\u00e9 d\u2019une seule arche sur la Seine.
