Il rejoignit en 1860 la Compa\u00f1\u00eda de los Caminos de Hierro del Norte de Espa\u00f1a comme adjoint au service d\u2019exploitation. Gravissant tr\u00e8s vite les diff\u00e9rents \u00e9chelons de l\u2019entreprise, il devint directeur de cette compagnie en 1881. Il ne cessa d\u2019\u00e9tendre le r\u00e9seau de la compagnie dans le nord et l\u2019ouest de l\u2019Espagne jusqu\u2019\u00e0 sa retraite en 1901.<\/p><p>Durant sa carri\u00e8re, puis durant sa retraite \u00e0 Oloron-Sainte-Marie, il fut un ardant promoteur de la ligne Pau &#8211; Canfranc &#8211; Saragosse et un proche de Louis Barthou. Comme les fr\u00e8res Pereire \u00e9taient actionnaires de la Compa\u00f1\u00eda de los Caminos de Hierro del Norte de Espa\u00f1a et de la Compagnie du Midi, il souhaitait rapprocher les deux compagnies par l\u2019ex\u00e9cution de la ligne Pau &#8211; Canfranc &#8211; Saragosse.
